CG means Cosmo Girl.
GC means General Conference.
CosmoGirl was my favorite teen magazine(I've been still known to grab an issue at work or if I'm desperate and the airport doesn't have a good selection) Confession: I love magazines. LOVE. I have about 6 favorites (Real Simple, Women's Health, Cosmo (for women, not girls), Self, Pop Photography, Lucky... I could add more but this is getting ridiculous.)
I finished an entire book last night during nightwatch- The Last Song.
Yup. the Miley Cyrus movie book. Actually a decent book (I mean, Nicholas Sparks is completely predictable, but who doesn't like love?)
One day I'll grow up.
Tomorrow.

CG and Easter
What a great weekend coming up- the Church's General Conference, and Easter!
Can't wait to hear from our Prophet and Apostles and other leaders of the Church, I know there will be such great guidance, strength and testimony given.
A stirring part of the best conference talk I've ever seen. I wish the music and pictures weren't there, it's better just to hear Elder Holland's voice. but this clip had the best timing.
In other news, Damon and I taught our first Sunday School class yesterday- to the 12 and 13 year olds. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be- not as bad as it had been the week before when we sat in to get an idea of how the class was (we've heard nothing but horrible stories about these kids). They are hyper and talkative and can be rude, but they were pretty ok with us. Maybe they just needed a change in scene and it will be good to have different teachers. Anyways, it went well and now we don't have to teach for 3 weeks cause the next 2 Sundays are General Conference and Stake Conference. Yay...

oh. my. goodness...
this might make you cry.
it's only 2 minutes
the music is horrid. maybe watch it on mute.
on second though, watch it with the music cause parts of it coincide.
just watch it.

some randome things
1. kami is coming to town to visit tomorrow! yayayayayayyayayayayayaya!!! probably target... holding nicole's baby... maybe kneaders. who cares, it's kami!
2. not to brag, but i made the best tortilla soup in the world the other night. kinda just add what you want to a can of diced tomatoes, a can of enchilada sauce, a can of chicken broth, 2 cups of water, cooked (i just boiled mine) shredded chicken and a little can of green chilis (we added a big can though.) ... we put in frozen corn, black beans, cut up tomatillas (i LOVE tomatillas- they are tangy green tomatoes and SOOOO good!), a medium onion cut up... i think that's about it. oh- and cilantro (dried or fresh- we chose fresh always) cumin and chili powder - at least a tsp of each, though i put more. just go by taste. then we cooked some of our costco raw tortillas (heaven sent) in the oven and cut them into strips and toped with avacado slices.
seriously. so good.
we made a HUGE batch but ate it all in 24 hours. and it only cost us about $3 to buy stuff we didn't already have from walmart.
4. we've been craftin' lately- if damon's not doing his puzzle (that has taken over our living room for a month now) he likes to make brumble (whatever they are) bracelets for people. haha. and i've just been experimenting with headbands and tshirts and what not. this is us the other night at 12:30 a.m.
5. here are 2 pictures from snowshoeing last month. in the first 10 minutes i thought i might die but after that it was amazing.
6. we need a bulldog. french or english, doesn't matter. but really.

the weekend we ate well.
Pioneer Woman has changed my (our) life. I want to BE her. Except me. With my own husband, and a target nearby, for that matter.
But we live on a ranch with her through her food.
Saturday we made "Spring Shells"
yum.
asparagus, broccoli, squash, shells, and ricotta cheese, topped with parmesan.
-break-
ok, i had to go pop some in the microwave. a whole tupperware of it is missing, Damon must have taken it with him out of town. Did I mention he's out of town? well, he's on an overnight draw, so I won't see him till I get off work tomorrow at 11. normally when he's gone I eat spaghettios. with meatballs thank you very much. but today I'm going vegetarian. at least for this 4 pm snack. dinner could be a whole 'nother bet. chinese take out? haven't had that in a while... the mexican food place D doesn't like? hmm...
but for now, let me just say, if you don't know PW and her amazing... ness, go, now- run don't walk, go now to her site and look. just look and TRY not to want. i dare you.
in other news.
last week i had a sinus infection. and because i called off 2 days in a row (heaven forbid!!!) i had to have a dr. note. so i got to go pay for a dr to tell me what i already know. (unless it's been 7-10 days or you have an extremely high fever, no antibiotics for you! sudafed must suffice) awesome. while there i figured might as well catch up on the old immunizations now instead of making a whole new appointment when i need them. so i got tetanus, pertussis, h1n1 and seasonal flue shots. and i'll probably be going back in the next couple days for yellow fever (to be safe for our travel to brazil this summer- you never know) and i also had my cholesterol checked.
i hate paying for doctor stuff. that's why i'm married to Damon, so that in 7 or whatever years when he's practicing whatever he's practicing, i can be like... i have the flu, bring me home a shot! or, my arm broke, fix it and cast it with plaster of paris! stuff like that.
well, there's other reasons too.

one more
ok, you've probably all seen this story, but in the off chance that you haven't, take a few minutes and watch the video below. i've seen it half a dozen times and i still cry every time. what a man, and what an example of service and love.
doctors told them their son would be a vegetable after he was strangled by his umbilical cord at birth, and to institutionalize him. instead, his dad did this.
yeah, they've done 24 Boston Marathons (once their best time was only 35 minutes off the world record) and 212 triathalons, including 4 Ironmans! holy crap, i can barely run a 5k.
oh yeah, and Rick graduated from public high school, college, and has his own apartment and a job. so much for a vegetable, eh?
people are amazing.
